How much will building a new County office building at Armory Square cost us? Even if you don’t know a thing about budgets, come listen to your fellow citizens. Our County Commissioners will be in the audience and need to hear what you have to say!
Shared from the county web page: The Calvert County Department of Finance & Budget will hold a Public Hearing next week on Tuesday March 20th at 7pm at the Calvert Pines Senior Center, 450 West Dares Beach Rd in Prince Frederick. This is to present and receive comments on the FY 2019 Staff Recommended Operating and Capital Improvement Budget. Individuals can sign in to speak for 2 minutes and a group representative can sign into speak for 5 minutes.
Interested persons are urged to view the proposal in its entirety, which will be available one week before the hearing. (Like you can read through 376 pages in one week.) They can do this by: contacting the Department of Finance and Budget at 410-535-1600, ext. 2435, by viewing the FY 2019 Staff Recommended Budget on the County website or reviewing a copy in the Reference Collection in any Calvert County Public Library.
On page 12: “The increased revenues of the General Fund are primarily due to the County’s Payment in lieu of Tax agreement (PILOT) with Dominion Cove Point. These amounts ASSUME the facility is in service by 06/30/2018.”
On page 37 from the pic chart: Budgeted expenditures for county government is 38.2% and for Calvert County Public schools is 36.3%.
On page 40: Statement of Revenues and Expenditures is summary of how much the county makes and from what sources, and the how much is spent on which items.
